Lab Grown

About Us

Lab-Grown Diamonds. Certified Brilliance with a Clean Supply Chain.

Lab-grown diamonds are reshaping the industry — offering the same chemical structure and optical performance as mined stones, but with lower environmental impact and greater transparency. These aren’t “alternatives” — they’re real diamonds, grown under controlled conditions and precision-cut by experts. At Azena, we manage the entire value chain — from seed to polish — delivering IGI- and GIA-certified stones at wholesale pricing. Our production partners run ERP-controlled facilities powered by solar energy, giving us full traceability and reduced carbon output. For retailers, this means secure sourcing, flexible volumes, and strong margins. For consumers, it’s beauty with a conscience. Lab diamonds give you the freedom to create — without the ethical grey zones or pricing volatility.

Azena brings you lab diamonds that are reliable, scalable, and ready to sell.

How Are Lab-Grown Diamonds Created?

Lab-grown diamonds are produced using one of two methods: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Both replicate the extreme conditions found deep within the Earth where natural diamonds form.

HPHT Method – Mimicking Nature with Pressure & Heat

Natural diamonds form around 150 km below the Earth’s surface under intense heat and pressure. HPHT technology imitates this process by placing a small diamond seed in a high-purity carbon source, then subjecting it to temperatures over 2,000°C and pressures of more than 1.5 million psi. There are three primary HPHT techniques:

  • Belt Press (first used by GE in 1954)
  • Cubic Press
  • Split-Sphere (BARS) Press

In each process, carbon melts and crystallizes around the seed, forming a new diamond layer by layer. While early lab diamonds were small and industrialgrade, today’s HPHT systems can produce gem-quality diamonds that rival natural stones in brilliance and clarity. It’s important to note that most lab-grown diamonds today — especially larger stones — are created using either modern HPHT or CVD processes and can be certified by top gemological labs like IGI or GIA. HPHT remains particularly useful for producing colorless diamonds, or for enhancing color and clarity in stones initially grown through CVD.

Lab diamonds aren’t alternatives — they’re the evolution.

Grown from a seed using refined carbon and metal catalysts, each stone is shaped under extreme pressure and over 2,000 °C using advanced HPHT presses. The result? A precision-crafted diamond with the same structure, brilliance, and longevity as a mined gem — minus the supply chain headaches. Whether you're a jeweler scaling responsibly or a collector seeking better value, lab-grown diamonds deliver clarity, ethics, and cutting-edge consistency.

CVD Diamonds: Smart Growth, Serious Brilliance

Welcome to the future of diamond sourcing. CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) diamonds are grown in ultra-controlled environments using carbon-rich gases and advanced plasma tech — no mining, no guesswork. Layer by layer, a diamond grows from a thin seed into a gem with extreme purity and brilliance. CVD diamonds offer unmatched consistency and scalability, making them the top choice for modern jewelry brands, wholesalers, and manufacturers. Grown at lower temperatures than HPHT, the CVD process gives you bigger roughs, cleaner structures, and fewer inclusions — ideal for Type IIa diamonds, the highest clarity grade in the world. Azena works exclusively with certified CVD labs using IGI- and GIA-approved standards. That means every stone you get is traceable, conflict-free, and ready to cut, polish, and deliver — fast.

Need high-clarity stones for fine jewelry? Looking to scale ethical production at competitive prices? CVD is your edge.

Lab-created. Laser-precise. Logistics-ready. That’s the Azena CVD standard.

Lab-Grown Diamonds: Modern sourcing for modern demand.

Let’s cut to it: lab-grown and mined diamonds are identical in composition, hardness, and brilliance. What sets them apart is not chemistry — it’s strategy. Lab-grown diamonds give you something the mined supply can’t: consistency, control, and certified traceability from start to finish. Grown using CVD or HPHT technology, most of Azena’s stones are Type IIa clarity — the purest grade possible — and certified by IGI or GIA. In 2024, lab-grown diamonds made up 24% of the U.S. engagement ring market, and 20% globally. Why? Because prices have dropped over 74% since 2020, production has scaled, and buyers are now demanding transparency — not tradition. Retailers and resellers need inventory that moves, not myths that sit in a safe.
At Azena, we work directly with certified producers to deliver stones that are ready to set, easy to stock, and clean to sell. No supply risk. No guesswork. Just real diamonds — designed for how the market works now.

Ethics Without Guesswork — Lab-Grown Diamonds Done Right

Today’s customers demand clarity — not just in the cut, but in the supply chain. Lab-grown diamonds deliver both. No mining. No middlemen. No conflict. These stones are made under fully controlled conditions and come with verifiable certificates of origin. That means 100% traceability from seed to sale. Compared to traditional mining, lab-grown diamonds use up to 70% less energy – as low as 20 kWh per stone, especially with solar-powered production. That’s more efficient and better for scaling your business. Global efforts like the Kimberley Process have tried to clean up the diamond trade. But lab-grown simply skips the risk. No land destruction, no ethical blind spots. At Azena, we source directly from certified producers with transparent processes. You know where your stones come from — and your clients will too.
Sustainable. Scalable. Ready to move.

Lab-Grown Diamonds: Myths vs. Facts

MYTH 1: Lab-grown diamonds aren’t real.

FACT: Lab-grown diamonds are 100% real — same carbon structure, same brilliance, same hardness (10/10 Mohs). The only difference? They’re grown above ground, not mined below it.

MYTH 2: They’re not as pure.

FACT: Most lab-grown diamonds are Type IIa — the purest diamond grade, found in less than 2% of natural stones. No nitrogen, no guesswork — just highclarity precision.

MYTH 3: They’re cheap to produce.

FACT: Quality lab diamonds require advanced tech, weeks of growth, and precision engineering. Savings come from supply chain efficiency — not shortcuts.

MYTH 4: You can’t trace their origin.

FACT: Every lab-grown diamond is traceable from seed to finish. Certified by IGI, GIA or GCAL. No middlemen. No mystery. That’s transparency built for the modern trade.

MYTH 5: They turn cloudy over time.

FACT: That’s a myth. Real diamonds don’t cloud — and lab diamonds are real. If it clouds, it’s not a diamond.

MYTH 6: No resale value.

FACT: True — resale isn’t yet strong. But most mined diamonds lose value the moment they leave the store. Lab-grown simply start smarter.

MYTH 7: They lose value faster.

FACT: Lab diamonds offer price stability and supply control — valuable in a volatile market. As consumer trust rises, so will long-term positioning.

MYTH 8: Mined diamonds are rare.

FACT: They’re not. Diamonds are mined by the hundreds of millions of carats annually. The myth of scarcity is marketing — lab-grown diamonds bring clarity.
